In March 2000, Media Film Service started out as an Arri Product-driven camera rental
facility that was fully supported by Arri Media in London. Following the company’s
business ethic of offering the best possible service to the film industry, it expanded
from being a camera and grips, only, company, to being a complete one stop facility by
adding the very latest in lighting equipment to its portfolio. This means that Media can
now offer the most up to date equipment from Arri and all other leading cinematographic
suppliers from all over the world.
Media Film Service has branches in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. Jannie van
Wyk, managing director, says - “We can offer our clients the best equipment and
unsurpassed service, anywhere in the country. We can deploy our resources from
one, or all of our bases, simultaneously to ensure a seamless supply and delivery of
services,including Kodak film stock and equipment. ARRI and Media believes in the
industry and are continuously investing in state-of-the-art equipment, including, most
recently, the Wescam.”
Including trainees, Media Film Service has grown to a complement of just over 60 staff
nationwide. In the same manner that equipment is built to be mobile and work anywhere,
so to is the Media Team. The skills of the company are easily relocated to wherever it is
required to provide value to our customers.
Media Film Service owes their success to three factors: first, the highly motivated and
committed Media team; second, to Arri Media and Arri for providing the best motion picture
equipment and international support and, third, and most important, their wonderfully loyal
and supportive Customers and friends, for whom they are tremendously grateful and
without whom they would not have had the opportunity to grow at the rate that they have
and to be in a position to reinvest in their industry in South Africa.
